Chief Don Etiebet visited the family of Pa Edwin Clark at his residence in Asokoro District, Abuja, where he sympathized with the family describing Chief Edwin Clark as a father to all Nigerians and that his demise is not a time to mourn but to rejoice and celebrate.
Chief Don Etiebet said: ”He represented particularly the South-South so well that we were all very proud of him. He was a man we will all run to at times of needs politically, economically, physically for advice, for consolation, for consultation and he wouldn’t fail us in his advice, and if you follow his advice, you will not miss the road’’. Atuekong Don Etiebet further described Chief Clark as
”A Politician of all Politicians, An Educationist of all Educationist, A Philanthropist of all Philanthropist but as you would expect from the political arena in Nigeria of selfishness, clandestineness and tribalism, some people tried to label him as an Ijaw leader; He was not an Ijaw Leader, he was a Nigerian leader of Ijaw origin and that’s how we all took him”.
While empathizing with the family, Chief Don Etiebet advised them to find comfort in the extraordinary life he led, one filled with integrity, steadfast patriotism, and legacies that will last for generations.
